Final Results: 6 months

If weight loss, genetics, or the aging process have left you with excess, sagging tissues around your thighs and buttocks, you are not alone. Many men and women are bothered by a loose, shapeless appearance to the lower body caused by excess skin and fat.

A thigh lift removes excess skin and lifts sagging tissues around the upper legs, helping to restore smoother, better-proportioned contours to the thighs and lower body. Not only can a thigh lift help you look younger and fitter, it can also make a tremendous difference in how well your clothing fits.

Why consider a thigh lift?

If you have loose or sagging skin gathered around your upper legs as a result of aging or weight loss, a thigh lift can be an excellent option to achieve a firmer, more attractive lower body. By removing excess, sagging tissues, a thigh lift can restore a more youthful appearance and even enhance your quality of life. With firmer, slimmer thighs, you may find that jeans and trousers finally fit the way they should, and that you feel more confident wearing shorts and other clothing that shows your legs.

About thigh lift surgery in Algonquin

Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gunnar Thors performs different types of thigh lifts and tailors his technique to address your specific concerns, achieve your desired improvements, and produce the most natural-looking results possible.

Thigh lift surgery is typically performed as an outpatient procedure using general anesthesia, and requires incisions along the groin or below the buttocks to remove excess skin. In some cases, these incisions may be extensive, but Dr. Thors takes care to place them in locations that are usually covered by clothing or in the natural folds of the thighs and buttocks. Depending on your needs and goals, Dr. Thors may perform liposuction at the same time as a thigh lift to further enhance thigh contours. A thigh and buttock lift is also a common component of post-weight loss body lift surgery.

Recovery after a thigh lift

After your thigh lift, your incisions will be bandaged and you will go home wearing a compression garment for support. While you will be encouraged to get up and walk around as soon as possible after surgery, you will need help with daily tasks for the first few days, and strenuous activity will be off-limits for up to 6 weeks while your incisions heal.

Post-operative bruising and swelling typically peak in the first week after surgery, and then begin to subside thereafter. You will be close to your final shape within 3 months or so, with final results in place about 6 months after your procedure. Scars will continue to fade for up to one year or longer.

During your consultation with Dr. Thors, he will discuss the treatment options available to you as well as the results you can hope to achieve from a thigh lift. He will take time to listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and explain the details of thigh lift surgery and recovery.
