During your consultation, you and Dr. Thors will discuss your concerns and goals, and Dr. Thors will evaluate the skin and tissue around your eyelids to recommend the appropriate procedures to achieve your goals. Many patients choose to combine an eyelid lift with a brow lift or facelift to achieve more comprehensive results.
Dr. Thors performs eyelid surgery as an outpatient procedure, using local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the extent of surgery. Dr. Thors varies his technique depending on whether he is rejuvenating your upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both.

Pain isn’t usually an issue after eyelid surgery, but temporary discomfort, tightness, swelling, bruising are common. Mild to moderate dryness, burning and itching in the eyes are also common for the first week or two. Dr. Thors may prescribe a lubricating ointment to prevent your eyes from drying; this can make your vision blurry, so plan on having help with driving for several days.
Most patients are able to read comfortably 2 to 3 days after surgery, and return to work within 7 to 10 days. If you wear contact lenses, you may need to switch to glasses for several weeks. Exercise can be resumed gradually after about 2 weeks.
