Kybella is the first FDA approved injectable treatment to reduce unwanted fat beneath the chin, helping you get a more slender, youthful neckline without surgery or downtime. Continue reading to learn more about this non-surgical treatment, now available at Dr. Thors' practice in Algonquin.
Excess fat beneath the chin (submental fullness) is an inherited trait for many people. This excess fat can be difficult to address with diet and exercise alone.
Kybella is a non-surgical injectable treatment that selectively dissolves excess fat cells to reduce fullness beneath the chin. With no downtime after treatment, Kybella can be done with minimal interruption to your activities and work schedule.
Kybella is an injectable form of deoxycholic acid, a substance already found in the body that assists with fat metabolism. When injected directly into fatty tissue underneath the chin, Kybella dissolves a portion of the fat cells. Following treatment, your body gradually processes the affected fat cells and eliminates them naturally. Following the recommended treatment course, Kybella can help you improve your appearance in a number of ways:
As the first FDA approved non-surgical chin fat reduction treatment, Kybella offers those who prefer a non-surgical approach an effective option to improve the shape of their neck and chin. Each treatment session only takes 15 to 20 minutes, with no downtime.
Dr. Thors performs Kybella injections during a brief, in-office appointment at our Algonquin location. After reviewing your treatment goals, he will prep and mark the area of concern and apply a cold pack to the skin prior to injection. He will then inject small amounts of Kybella in the pre-marked locations to achieve the most even fat reduction and natural-looking results possible.
Following your treatment, you may experience mild redness or tenderness in the treated area as well as mild swelling for the next 2 to 4 days as the Kybella works to reduce the fat.
The number of treatments required depends on your personal goals and the amount of fat to be addressed. Most patients choose to have a series of 2 to 4 treatments a minimum of 1 month apart.
