Nose reshaping surgery with board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gunnar Thors can help you get a more attractive nose that is better proportioned to your facial features. By giving you a new nose that you love, rhinoplasty can help you feel more beautiful and confident in your appearance every day.
You deserve to be happy with your appearance, but if you feel that the size or shape of your nose does not match the rest of your face, loving how you look can be easier said than done. Fortunately, there is a solution to help you get a more attractive, elegant nose that complements your natural features: rhinoplasty.
Also known as a “nose job,” rhinoplasty surgery reshapes the bone, cartilage and skin of the nose to improve size, shape and symmetry. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gunnar Thors is experienced in a variety of nose reshaping techniques, and can help address a number of common issues through safe, proven procedures with beautiful results.
A nose size or shape that doesn’t match the rest of your face can detract from facial harmony, causing other features to seem out of balance. A skilled rhinoplasty surgeon can create a nasal contour that looks natural and enhances your appearance. Rhinoplasty can also help correct breathing problems caused by a deviated septum. By correcting aspects of your nose that bother you, nose reshaping can help you feel more confident in your appearance every day.
Patients in Algonquin and the greater Chicago area have benefitted from nose reshaping surgery by Dr. Thors for some of the following reasons:
Dr. Thors individualizes your nose surgery to your needs and goals, using specific surgical techniques to correct the specific issues that bother you. For example, he can:
Dr. Thors performs rhinoplasty as an outpatient procedure using general anesthesia. Depending on your needs and goals, he may perform an open rhinoplasty, which involves external incisions placed in the lower nostrils, or a closed rhinoplasty, placing incisions inside the nose. Through these incisions, he removes excess cartilage and skin, reshaping the nasal bridge, tip and/or nostrils to achieve your desired nose shape.
Following surgery, your nose will be placed in a splint, and temporarily packed with gauze. Bruising and swelling are common for the first several weeks, but after 2 to 3 weeks these effects will be barely perceptible to others. Patients typically return to work within 10 to 14 days after rhinoplasty, and gradually resume their exercise routines after 3 to 4 weeks. You will need to keep your nose protected from impact for several months after surgery.
Your new nose shape will be evident after the bulk of bruising and swelling go down—typically within 2 to 3 weeks after surgery. However, subtle improvements will continue for up to 1 year. Once final, rhinoplasty results are considered permanent.
