Want to address wrinkles and thinning facial features, but don't want a sudden change? Sculptra® Aesthetic injections may be the perfect option for you! This unique injectable filler works by stimulating natural collagen production, helping to smooth facial folds and restore volume gradually, with results that last for up to 2 years.
Sculptra Aesthetic helps your skin rebuild collagen naturally, so signs of aging fade gradually.
It’s an excellent option to reduce moderate to severe facial folds and restore youthful volume without anyone noticing you had anything “done”. As with other injectable fillers, you may experience some bruising, but the results can last up to 2 years or longer.
Sculptra is made from a substance called Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which stimulates the production of new collagen when injected into the deeper skin layers to gradually and naturally plump facial tissues and soften creases around the nose and mouth. An experienced, qualified provider can achieve substantial improvements with a series of two to three Sculptra treatments, spaced one month apart.
Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gunnar Thors can use Sculptra® Aesthetic to reduce wrinkles and restore volume to thinning areas of the face as well as fill in depressions in the skin. Common issues he treats with Sculptra include:
Dr. Thors performs Sculptra injections during a 30-minute appointment at our practice in Algonquin. After going over your treatment goals, he will cleanse the injection site and apply a topical numbing agent to enhance your comfort. You may notice an immediate increase in volume in the treated area as the fluid component of Sculptra settles beneath the skin; this effect is temporary and your body will naturally absorb the fluid within a few days of treatment. Longer lasting improvements are typically noticeable within several weeks, after your skin has rebuilt collagen. Those with “thin” skin generally report thickening of their skin with a healthy, youthful glow.
During your consultation, Dr. Thors will discuss with you the number of treatment sessions you may need. Anywhere from 1-4 or more treatments may be recommended, depending on the extent of collagen production necessary to achieve your desired final result. Sculptra injections are usually scheduled at least 4 weeks apart to give time for ultimate collagen build-up and results to show. This allows Dr. Thors to best assess whether another treatment is needed.
