Unhappy with your nose? Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gunnar Thors is experienced in nose reshaping procedures to reduce an overly large or wide nose, smooth a prominent bump, improve symmetry, or refine the shape of the tip. Learn more about your options to get a more attractive nose.
Considering it’s the central feature of your face, it’s important that you are happy with the shape, size and appearance of your nose. If you feel yours could use improvement, nose reshaping surgery can help you get a well-proportioned, more symmetrical nose that enhances your natural features.
A nose that lacks symmetry or seems out of proportion with the rest of your face can cause other features to appear out of balance. Rhinoplasty remodels the bone, cartilage, and skin of the nose to refine size, shape or symmetry and create a nasal contour that looks naturally pleasing with the rest of your face. Rhinoplasty can also help correct breathing problems caused by a misshapen septum. By addressing aspects of your nose that bother you, nose reshaping can help you feel more confident in your appearance.
Many men choose to combine rhinoplasty with another facial procedure, such as chin augmentation or neck liposuction, to enhance the results and further improve facial harmony.
Rhinoplasty is individualized to your needs and goals, and Dr. Thors can adjust his technique to address specific issues. For example, he can:
Dr. Thors performs rhinoplasty as an outpatient procedure using general anesthesia. Depending on your needs and goals, he may perform an open rhinoplasty, using external incisions in the lower nostrils, or a closed rhinoplasty, which involves internal incisions. Through these incisions, he will remove excess cartilage and skin and reshape the nasal tissues to create your desired nose shape.
Following surgery, your nose will be placed in a splint, and packed with gauze. This can be uncomfortable, but packing is temporary and typically removed a couple of days after surgery. Bruising and swelling around the nose and eyes are common for the first 1 to 2 weeks, and you will need to keep your nose protected from impact for several months after surgery. Most of Dr. Thors’ male rhinoplasty patients return to work within 10 to 14 days after surgery, and resume non-contact exercise after 3 to 4 weeks.
Your new nose shape will be evident after the majority of bruising and swelling subside—typically within 3 weeks after your procedure. However, subtle improvements will continue for up to 1 year. Once final, rhinoplasty results are considered permanent.
